Eligibility

Candidates must be a tenure-track or non-tenure-track faculty member at USC. The award is not open to USC staff members. Faculty can self-nominate, or can be nominated by colleagues, students, staff, and/or alumni affiliated with USC.

Selection Process

The Provost’s Prize for Teaching with Technology will be awarded to up to two recipients. Each
recipient will receive $5,000. The final award decision will be made by the TEL Faculty Advisory Committee. Applicants and awardees will be notified in April. The award will be presented at a ceremony on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the 2008 Teaching with Technology conference.

Nomination Deadline/Timeline

All nominations are due on or before Monday, March 24, 2008 via email to teldl@usc.edu. Late nominations will not be considered.

Nomination Narrative

• To what extent were technologies incorporated into the course?
• How did the technology or technologies improve student learning?
• Can the use of the technology in the course be sustained or replicated in other courses?
• How did the instructor share experiences associated with the technologies and

Nomination Requirements

The following descriptions will be required for nominations:

• Completion of the two-page Nomination Narrative (above).
• A syllabus for the course(s) in which technology was used.
• Bulleted list of technologies used in the course(s).
• Contact information for two faculty recommenders, who will be contacted if the applicant is a finalist.
• Contact information for two former students, who may be contacted if the applicant is a finalist. These students should have been enrolled in the course(s) under consideration.

The Teaching with Technology Award will be evaluated on the quality of the Nomination Narrative and the supporting nomination requirements.
